How can MarketMap be priced so much lower than other information terminals? Is this because MarketMap has much less data coverage?

No, the cost advantage is not related to data content – adding data sources is a core competency and is typically a manageable fixed cost.

In fact MarketMap’s pricing advantage comes from the fact that it has a much lower cost of deployment (due to the fact that it is ASP delivered). The simplified delivery model accompanied by our ability to centrally manage the accesses and data permissions means that MarketMap can be priced much more aggressively.

MarketMap’s lower pricing is not a temporary “introductory rate”, it is a reflection of an application that is more cost-efficient to operate.

How long does it take to install MarketMap?

Once you have your MarketMap login credentials;- MarketMap can downloaded and you up and running with live Market Data from 160+ sources within a minute.

MarketMap runs as a pure ASP service, and no special hardware or network is required to use it. The time to install MarketMap on a PC with a standard internet link is typically less than a minute and requires no technical knowledge, onsite installation or support.

Doesn’t the pure ASP model mean that MarketMap has less performance and can’t scale for very large terminal deployments?

No, MarketMap has been fine tuned to use minimum bandwidth and so runs efficiently over long distances. In addition cascaded data caches form part of the underrlying core architecture; which further improves end to end performance. In adddition larger customers have the option to deploy a local caching server that will support very large-scale terminal deployments. Our larger clients have deployed 1,000+ terminals.

How easy is it to display in-house (eg contributed) data within MarketMap?

In addition to our MarketMap terminals, we also provide a family of InfoLink APIs for integrating SunGard’s market data into in-house applications, web servers or trading systems – or alternatively for contributing clients own market data (such as internally derived prices) for display in MarketMap.

In all cases SMART (our Permissioning & reporting system) ensures that only permissioned users can access the different sets of market data. It also means that MarketMap Users within the same organisation can securely view their own organisations market data wherever they are in the world.
