SunGard Launches New Solution for Options Exercise/Assignment and Close Outs

London 9th June 2009 - SunGard has launched GL Options Watch, a new straight-through processing (STP) workflow solution for option exercise/assignment and close outs. GL Options Watch helps firms to better manage operational risk and reduce the risk of potential losses on options exercise and close out processes.

As derivatives trades move from historically high-margin over-the-counter (OTC) trading to lower-margin listed derivatives trading, there is increased demand for greater process efficiency and lower operational costs. Many firms still have manually intensive methods to handle options exercises, assignments and abandons, which can cause multiple errors and financial losses on transactions.

The STP workflow provided by GL Options Watch helps to improve the management of options exercise/abandonment operations, reducing the risk of potential errors by closely monitoring each process step. SunGard’s GL Options Watch also automates the close-out process with exchanges, managing the reconciliation of a broker’s positions with those of the exchange. Brokers can thus better manage when they are going to be assigned. The solution helps to reduce delays in offsetting options, helps reduce the resources needed to handle the offsetting process, and helps brokers to better assess the risks of being assigned.

SunGard Launches New Clearing Gateways for Derivatives

Paris, 28th May 2009 - SunGard is launching a series of new clearing gateways for listed derivatives markets. These smart gateways will be integrated with SunGard’s post-trade derivatives processing solutions, including, GL Clearvision, GL Ubix and GMI, helping SunGard customers to improve performance and efficiency.

Developed in Java and based on industry standards such as FIX messaging, SunGard’s smart gateways can be rolled out in a number of different technical environments including Windows, UNIX and Linux. This new architecture is scalable so that multiple gateways can be installed for a single exchange to help support increased trading volumes. The smart gateways will be launched throughout 2009, replacing SunGard’s existing clearing gateways by early 2010.

GL Clearvision, SunGard’s solution for matching and clearing, has been integrated with the first smart gateway, NYSE-Liffe US (cleared by the OCC). Four SunGard customers are already using the NYSE-Liffe US smart gateway.

Guotai Junan Securities Selects SunGard’s GL Stream to Help Manage Client Connectivity

London, 13th May 2009 - Guotai Junan Securities (Guotai), one of the top five securities firms in China, has selected SunGard’s GL Stream order management solution to help manage the orders from its mainland China clients. SunGard’s GL Stream will also help Guotai to target new buy-side firms in China and overseas.

SunGard’s GL Stream will support Guotai’s traders in collecting direct market access (DMA) or non-direct market access orders from Chinese or international investors who want to invest on the Securities Exchange of Hong Kong (SEHK). The solution will also help Guotai to manage orders sent to the SEHK, receive FIX orders and create new trading strategies.

SunGard Extends Managed ASP Service for Trading on Japanese Exchanges

London, 27 April 2009 - SunGard has extended its ASP connectivity services in Japan by adding new connections to three Japanese exchanges: Osaka Securities Exchange (OSE), Tokyo Commodity Exchange (TOCOM) and Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE), including the new Tdex+ options trading platform. SunGard has provided ASP managed access to the Tokyo Financial Exchange (TFX) since 2008.

SunGard’s extended services will allow exchange members in Japan to outsource the complex activities involved in procuring and managing the hardware, software and telecommunication links required for market access. Users will benefit from 24/7, cost-effective access to all local markets.

Japanese exchanges offer, or plan to offer in the near future, membership to financial institutions outside Japan. SunGard’s global order routing network, GL Net, provides direct links to all of SunGard’s ASP gateways worldwide. International financial institutions that use GL Net will therefore be able to trade on Japanese exchanges from locations worldwide.
